Addis Ababa, 17 October 2025 — Djibouti Telecom CEO Mohamed Assoweh Bouh and Frehiwot Tamru, CEO of Ethio Telecom, held a high-level meeting in Addis Ababa to strengthen collaboration between the two operators and align on shared priorities for the next phase of regional connectivity.
The discussion reaffirmed a common agenda focused on practical, near-term delivery:
- Enhancing IP Internet connectivity by 2026 to support rising traffic volumes and improve service quality for customers and enterprises.
- Optimising roaming tariffs to make cross-border communications more affordable and predictable for users.
- Co-developing digital and value-added services, enabling new use cases for government, enterprise, and consumer markets.
- Improving infrastructure security and regional interconnection, including an update on the Horizon Project.
In a fast-moving telecom environment, both teams underscored the importance of innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. The meeting also recognised Ethio Telecom’s pivotal role in Ethiopia’s digital transformation, guided by its strategy “Next Horizon: Beyond 2028.”
