Aden Djibouti
Since its inception in 1997, the Aden-Djibouti submarine cable has served as a vital link between Djibouti and Yemen, spanning 269 kilometers across the Red Sea. This second-generation submarine cable, co-owned by Djibouti Telecom and TeleYemen, not only facilitates bilateral communication but also plays a strategic role in handling transit traffic between South Asia and Europe.
As one of the primary investors, Djibouti Telecom led a significant upgrade to the cable’s capacity, increasing the system’s bandwidth to 80Gbps using cutting-edge Wavelength technology, ensuring it remains a key connection in the region’s digital infrastructure.
