The Djibouti Africa Regional Express 1 (DARE1) is a new submarine cable system landing across Djibouti City (Djibouti), Bossaso (Somalia), Mogadishu (Somalia) and Mombasa (Kenya). With a route length of 4,854 km, the DARE1 cable system will provide up to 36 Tbit/s of capacity to East Africa offering a strategic alternative in traffic routing as well as dealing with increased capacity to East Africa.
Originally, the consortium was composed of Djibouti Telecom, Somtel and Telkom Kenya. We are now pleased to announce and welcome Hormuud Telecom as a new partner and full-fledged consortium member. Hormuud Telecom will participate in the DARE-1 project with an investment of USD 18,250,000.
